In 2005, while still holding a full-time position in tech, Everend fulfills his childhood dream of creating quality housing for others. He moves to Austin and purchases a fourplex, living in one unit while renovating the rest of the building.
In 2008 Everend founds ET’s Home Repair. Starting as a handyman, he builds relationships with craftsmen to expand his understanding of many trades. He offers services to realtors, property managers and homeowners, building on the experience gained from renovating his own property and hiring apprentices. Over time, ET’s Home Repair takes on more complex and creative projects.
After ten years of repairing homes full time, Everend commits to intentionally develop ET’s Home Repair into a company that cultivates craftsmanship, quality and service. Always an engineer, he considers how to design structured processes and develop employees capable of providing predictable, high quality service.
In 2022 the company adds Renovation to its name, highlighting how ET’s focus on better management and organization allows us to effectively handle larger projects in addition to repairs. The customers benefit from coordinated planning and our ever-expanding network with area construction experts and material suppliers.
Your General Contractor is Everend Thorne, who built ET’s Home Renovation by combining his experience as a certified project manager (PMP) in the tech sector with a love for craftsmanship. He turned to home improvement in 2005, making good on a childhood dream of owning and improving residential property. After moving around a lot, he met a local Austin girl who helped him settle down. Together, they are raising a family in Kyle, Texas and building long-term relationships with the HomeTown Networking group, the Kyle
Chamber of Commerce, the local community soccer league and their local church. These strong local ties allow Everend to cultivate trusted relationships with vendors, subcontractors and clients.
Starting out as a handyman, Everend now has a proven track record of increasing home values for families and investors through maintenance and renovation projects. Everend credits the many nurses, teachers and engineers in his family for preparing him for his current role. The nurses taught him how to serve with patience and humility. The teachers instilled a love of learning and an enthusiasm for passing on knowledge and skills to others. The engineers and creators get credit for the satisfaction he derives from the constant problem-solving, project management and design challenges that go along with keeping homes in good working order and updated for the changing needs of families over time.
Everend now serves as the General Contractor at ET’s Home Renovation, instilling in his craft the same values of Respect, Creativity and Grace that have guided his own career as a craftsman. He is driven by teaching, learning and serving, but he still gets satisfaction from watching the beauty of a home renewed and the function of a fixture restored.
